The Electoral Mission deployed by UNASUR in the Bolivian departments of La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Oruro, and Tarija, as well as in El Alto, was made up by 22 delegates with the purpose of supporting the Judicial Elections held in Bolivia. The members of the Missions witnessed the establishment of the polling stations and the beginning of the voting process.
The mentioned establishment proceeded normally, except for a few cases of delay, mainly due to the arrival of the jury members or the final preparation of the center. In spite of these situations, the delegates of the Mission informed that the voting proceeded normally.
As a continuation of their activities, the Delegates visited different polling centers for the accompaniment of the voting process by the Bolivian citizens, and in order to verify the normal development of elections.
In these particular elections, there were no delegates from the political organizations during the establishment of the polling stations. However, in certain centers the delegates observed the presence of people wearing t-shirts with propaganda on one of the electoral options.
In this regard, UNASUR’s Electoral Mission urged the judicial authorities to take measures aimed at preserving the peace and calm environment during the entire elections.
