The 12th Meeting of the Executive Body of UNASUR’s South American Council on Social Development (CSDS) was held on Friday, October 6, 2017, at the headquarters of the Union of South American Nations in Quito.
Representatives from eleven of the member countries of the Union gathered to discuss –both face-to-face and through videoconference- the 2017-2018 Action Plan. Such a plan is made up by five subject areas: Inclusive Development; Food Security and the Fight against Hunger and Malnutrition; Social, Supportive, and/or Community Economy with Production and Labor Inclusion; Social Participation; and Regional Cooperation on Social Policies.
Uruguay, as the holder of the Technical Secretariat of a project called “Social UNASUR in Action,” presented a progress report, while the coordinators of the Working Groups of the Council explained the status of their activities and presented their annual working plans.
Additionally, the delegation of Argentina proposed, as part of a project within the Common Initiatives Fund (FIC), the holding of a conference called “Let’s Talk about Peace, Let’s Change Course,” jointly organized by the Latin American Institute for Peace and Citizenship and the Civil Association of Solidarity amongst Argentines.
