A conference will be held on Monday the 5th of June 2017, at the headquarters of the Union of South American Nations, in tribute to the 50th anniversary of the publication of the masterpiece "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Nobel laureate, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
The event, scheduled at 11:00 am, will be attended by the writer and Minister of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador, Raul Perez Torres as well as by the Colombian Ambassador to Ecuador, Fernando Panesso -both officers being experts on the work of the Colombian writer.
The conference will be held at the ‘Mariscal Antonio José de Sucre’ auditorium, UNASUR’s Headquarters in Mitad del Mundo. The event is also backed by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador and the Colombian Embassy accredited to the country.
In addition to this conference, UNASUR has organized a film series open to the public. The movies are based on books written by Garcia Marquez, such as: "No One Writes To the Colonel", "Chronicle of a Death Foretold, "Of Love and Other Demons."
